Being Grateful for Everything

being grateful

Being grateful for everything in our lives. That can be a tall order even when things are going well, but especially when they aren’t. Feeling gratitude during difficult times can often feel almost impossible. But remembering things we are grateful for in our lives is one of the best and simplest ways to feel more happiness quickly.  Even (or especially) in bad times.

So why is this so hard, even during good times?

We have so much to be grateful for, that we tend to forget.

When things are going well, we can often take all the good things in our lives for granted. We get so used to them that we stop paying attention and remembering all we truly have.

And we can have gratitude for both positive and negative experiences in our lives.

Feeling gratitude for the positive experiences is pretty obvious, a positive experience is something that made us happy or that we got something else good out of.

But what about the negative experiences?

Being grateful for even negative experiences is possible if we focus on what came out of them.

Although it certainly doesn’t feel it at the time we are going through them, it’s after the fact, maybe even a long time after, if it’s something we need to heal from, that we can find something to be grateful for, that came out of the experience.

Being grateful for even negative experiences is possible if we focus on what came out of them.

Important to note, that doesn’t necessarily mean the experience itself. But if we can find something positive that came from them – maybe we learned something or grew stronger from it, or while it was painful, ultimately something better came out of it, for example – it can help us tremendously. If we can do that, especially for things that have really been bothering us, it can greatly raise our spirits to have a happier outlook overall.

Make the time regularly to pay attention to things you are grateful for in your life. Both good and bad.

It really can make a world of difference in your life.
